Joanne Walker has been teaching for 28 years, has been at Carmel College for 20 years and is Assistant Vice Principal.
Joanne is passionate about educational research and has joined the team holding a Senior ELE post. Joanne joined the team in late July and is excited to help lead out the latest research.

Monita Atkinson has been at Carmel since qualifying in 1994. During that time she has been a Head of Year for 10 years working within Key Stage 3 and in charge of transition for 5 years liaising with up to 30 primary schools. She has worked with a variety of ITT providers and currently leads 14 mentors and is responsible for 15 trainees. As well as her ITT work she also facilitates and delivers a number of training programmes.

Michala has worked for Carmel for over 3 years and is very efficient and experienced in Bookings and the online systems and, along with Sarah, will be your first port of call and the friendly voice on the phone helping you with your queries and bookings. Michala also deals with our Maths hub, Computing Hub and STEM SLP organisation.
Jackie Springhall

Jackie Springhall has worked in the education sector for 14 years. Her administration experience at Carmel College covers many aspects of school life. She is the Administrator for the Archimedes NE Maths Hub, one of 40 hubs across the UK. This programme offers support to teachers and schools to improve maths education.
Gráinne Duffy

Gráinne Duffy is the primary school lead at the Tees Valley and Durham Computing Hub.
Before starting her teaching career more than 25 years ago Gráinne was a Systems Engineer for a global computing company. Her interest in computing having been sparked by the family’s “Dragon 32” when she realised she could write programs and edit the code in the games her elder brothers played.
Now Gráinne shares her enthusiasm for teaching and teaching computing through the Computing Hub.
Gráinne enjoys running and is often seen out with her faithful companion Ollie the spaniel.

My name is john Walters. I am the NCCE Subject Material Expert in Computing for South Durham and the Tees Valley. My Degree and PGCE are both in Computer Science. I was for 27 years a teacher and head of Computing in schools in and around the Tees Valley. During that time I taught students from year 4 up to year 13, a variety of ICT based subjects as well as GCSE and A level Computing.
