About Us

Established in 2017 for the further development and dissemination of research in education and teaching.

The R&D department is part by the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust (BHCET). The department’s purpose is to facilitate and inform the trust of the current best evidence informed teaching and education. Our vision is that we can reduce effects of disadvantage and that all students have equal educational opportunities to increase better life chances

In 2019 Carmel was awarded Research School status. The research schools are a joint collaboration between EEF and IEE, and Carmel joins 39 other research schools and associate schools in the Research school network. The Research School Network is ‘school led support for evidence based practice’. Please see Carmel Research School tab for further details

 

Carmel Teacher Training Partnership, has been inspiring the next generation of teachers for over 19 years.  Considered an Outstanding provider by Ofsted(2018), we now work with 6 lead schools throughout the North East of England, successfully training Primary (5-11) and Secondary (11-16) teachers in many subject areas

 

Awarded in 2014 the Archimedes Maths hub was awarded to Carmel College and has been going strength to strength and worldwide with the Shanghai mastery courses.See Maths Hub tab for further details

 

In 2019 Carmel was awarded the Computing hub status and is currently beginning to roll courses and recruiting.Please see the Computing hub page tab for further details.
