Sport England is investing up to £13.5 million of lottery funding to help secondary schools foster a more positive attitude towards sport and physical activity in their pupils.

Every secondary school in England will be invited to take part through the network of Teaching School Alliances TSAs) between now and 2021.

Our insight has highlighted variable experiences in Physical Education (PE) and sport in school for young people; while some have an enjoyable experience, others are not enjoying it. this negative experience is impacting on their adult lives, behaviours and habits. we know that having a positive attitude towards physical activity and, addressing this now, will help tackle the decline in young peoples’ mental and physical well-being.

Sport England is working with the Youth Sport trust, the Association for Physical Education and Activity Alliance to provide one -to one support to help TSAs identify some of the causes of the above issues and design a bespoke programme to address them. Consultants will facilitate TSAs in developing and delivering an approach that will contribute to the short, medium and long term outcomes with Sport England has identified as national priorities from our research with children and young people nationwide
